Matters of Life & Death - The Last Friday and Saturday of each month
Welcome to Matters of Life & Death! This is a half hour show we live stream each month to feature a local playwright or film maker's work. If it is a theater piece, we interview the writer and then perform their 10 to 20 minute selection of their work. If it is a film, we again interview the writer live on our show and then we will screen their short film.
WRITERS: Playwrights, please submit your 10 to 20 minute pieces or film makers, please submit your film for screening OR you may submit an unproduced script to be done as a staged reading.
ACTORS/DIRECTORS: Want to play in the sandbox and don't have a lot of experience yet OR you just can't commit to a full length play but want to get on stage, or maybe you just are experienced and just want to really work on a something short to keep yourself sharp. Rehearsal for the plays are about two weeks and the then show is only two nights. Most often we do two or 4 person plays, and they run 10 to 20 minutes.
If you are an actor, come with your monologues or be prepared to cold read a monologue. If you are a director, please come in for an interview to talk.

ELISE HODGE - Producer/Director/Writer/Actor
*It came to my attention that there is a lot of division about pre-casting a role in a show. The Artist's Collective was set up with an eye towards allowing artists be they actors, writers, directors, producers, light or sound or set or camera and all manner of behind the scenes artists to be able to present a project they wish to do, and then we can hopefully help them attain that goal. For example, if an actor comes in with a dream project, we consider it and then cast them in the role if we go forward with the project, as they are the one who came forward with it to be done. I have believed it lacks integrity to tell actors you are casting all roles when in reality you are not. My hope is that people will be excited by the idea of having a place they come develop a project, to see it come to life and be part of it. I am hopeful that the idea of being in a show that is someone's dream makes it that much more fulfilling for all those involved. - Elise Hodge
