"Note: I will be referring to Van’s Sister as Lucky because she is worth a name. A real name. (Lucky is actually her stripper name, but it’s the one she likes to go by.)
After working with Elise on Liar, I wanted to do it again! She sent me Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead. I grew up reading and watching the Peanuts gang and was both excited and terrified. I read the script and fell in love with Lucky. I didn’t really connect with the other characters. That is, until the first read thru which was pretty epic if you ask me. (#epic #therewasfire #firemakesmehappy) I am not sure if we stopped laughing. Elise and Eason cast this show REALLY well. And every rehearsal reconfirms that fact.
I am LOVING playing Lucky. I enjoy her dialogue and interaction with CB. I am also having a great time with her back story. Connecting the dots from the elementary aged Lucky to High School Lucky is some of the most fun I have ever had doing character work. There is so much about her that I connect with.
I don’t care if the coyote ever kills the roadrunner or if the rabbit ever gets to eat the Trix but I DO want Charlie Brown to fall on his ass EVERYTIME while attempting to punt the football! In some sick way, I get that. He has no reason to trust her. He has hundreds of memories and examples of why he shouldn’t trust her. But no matter what, he always goes for it. I want someone to have as much unconditional faith and hope in me as Charlie Brown has in Lucy." - KARA OW
