Welcome everyone to the upcoming production of "Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead" by Bert V. Royal. EMH is so happy to be bringing to the stage this now classic play where we get to see writer Royal's interpretation of the very familiar and lovable Peanuts characters come to life as present-day teenagers, full of angst, laughter, body image and sexual identity issues, bullying and flat out pyromania. Watch us take these stereotypes, like the ones listed in the teaser below, and turn them on their heads!
Between Kara wanting to set everything on fire ala "Van's Sister", my crazy dogs, high energy from a great cast and a photo shoot with the wonderful Terri Brindisi on our first night of rehearsal, we had an AWESOME TIME!
Getting to hear the play out loud with this fun group of talent was a great kick off, despite attempts to set the football on fire. Eason, Peggi and I listened, laughed, were inspired and got to task on setting forth the next few weeks of rehearsals and production
One unique thing about this experience is that we have two directors on board. We're spending our first couple weeks exploring our characters, building trust in each other as actors, and really allowing for creativity to run rampant. We've done some crazy improv together and some heartfelt sharing as well. That's my job for the moment. Eason will be stepping in to do what he loves, which is our final blocking and detailing of the show. Between the two of us, and all these awesome actors, we know you'll see something unexpected in the best sense of the word.
STAY TUNED FOR MORE FROM OUR FINE ACTORS, DIRECTORS AND PRODUCERS!!!
