So yes, that's my car.... A little more than a week ago, I was in a car crash. It led to the unfortunate cancellation of our performance of Liar on the 17th.
Here's the thing....As I was sitting in my car, hands on a useless steering wheel and foot on an even more useless brake, my life did not flash before my eyes, I didn't have some kind of epiphany about myself, I didn't have a moment of "what have I done with my life?" or fear of death or even fear of injury, even though I could see it all staring me in the face. I literally thought "I can't afford this." What does that mean? It means I had to just let my car hit the person in front of me, at a highway speed with the flow of traffic and deal with the consequences of legal liability, possible injury to others and to myself as well as whatever else went along with being involved in a crash and know all that right before impact. And know that it was going to cost me.
That's what its like to be a producer starting out. You know the risks in getting behind the wheel, you do all you can to make things run smoothly. You never go into it to cause a wreck. You can't afford it. But guess what, you don't have any control over what's outside your vehicle: The Audience. They may come, they may not. They may like the show, they may hate it or worse, have no feelings about it at all. You want to impact them, but not in the car crash kind of way. You set your vehicle in motion, with the best of intentions and sometimes you wreck and wind up with nothing but your body in tact. All of you out there talking about what a great show Liar is along with the moving performances by my castmates have been instrumental in making it a positive impact. :) I am so incredibly grateful for that, just as I have been to everyone who sent me emails, texts and messages wishing me a speedy recovery from my crash. You all were the reason I got back on stage the next night even though I probably shouldn't have.
We have two weekends left, 5 performances of Liar, to go. Liar has had its impact on me in ways I am still and will continue to explore, just like my car wreck. Thanks to my cast for making this the most rewarding kind of impact, NOTHING like crashing my car. :) I am so lucky to have had an amazing cast, director and stage/tech involved with this show. I am so proud of it, both as an actor and as a producer. This show really does deserve an audience as so many of you have said, so keep putting the word out there and put people in the seats. We love what we do, have had a great time doing it, and as the reviews and comments from you all show, that's been your experience as well.
SO COME OUT THE NEXT TWO WEEKENDS WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND THEIR FRIENDS AND THEIR FRIENDS!!!

Now, maybe I haven't said what I intended in the best way possible. I don't know, my brain hurts! LoL. But I do know I can't wait to be on stage this coming weekend. Its what I do, what we as actors do. We look forward to seeing you there.
