How direct is too direct? That is the question.
In an age where we feel so empowered and emboldened behind the safety of our computer screens and smart phones, are we becoming less direct in our real world encounters? I've noticed that conversations online about sex can often be very blunt and to the point. Oftentimes a profile headline can give you an exact idea of what a person is looking for in just one sentence. Other times, words aren't necessary. Depending on the site, the profile picture alone can be worth a thousand words.
However, as a person who happens to be direct I have noticed that in person people tend to withdraw into the more conservative version of themselves. Slightly more prudish and likely to be shocked by forward and direct behavior.
It has been said that online dating has made dating easier. But how much of that is owed to the fact that we are a more confident and opinionated version of ourselves on the internet?
How would you respond if someone attractive, who you knew, said to you in a face to face conversation "I want to have sex with you"? Now how would you respond if they sent it in a message? And last how would you respond if that same person was an extremely hot, anonymous stranger
in a hook-up site chat room?
You don't have to answer but I am guessing that in the last scenario the result would be you getting laid.
The other two scenarios, not so likely.
