This is my 7the production of an original work. But it is only the second time I have produced my own material. It is a true pleasure to attempt to bring this play in it's full production to the stage. As a writer, getting your words out there can be tough, so here I am, jumping to share them by producing it alongside this amazing cast of talented people. I gathered stories from a number of Marines, and combined them into the role of Tyler and Diaz for the this play. As for Joss, she is in part my own story of loss and guilt at the inability I had to save someone I loved from taking their life. In the end, I know that it was never up to me to save anyone, but the loss is still there, no matter how it occurs, or who is truly responsible.
I believe that our quest to find help for those who truly need it, be they our mothers, fathers, brothers, friends, lovers.... this quest should not end until mental well being is at the forefront of our medical care. A mentally well individual is more more adept to face the trials of whatever may come their way in life, both the positive and the negative. For these people, I write my stories, and tell my truths, so that hopefully we keep exploring and uncovering better ways to allow a person to be there for themselves in a time of deep personal crisis. Thank you to my cast and crew. I am grateful for the opportunity and the dedication. |
