This well known and often strangely beloved tale of devious machinations, murder, mayhem and revenge also is a tale of love, loss and what drives a person to commit the most violent of crimes. Staging such a musical in our little 35 seat intimate space allows for a very unique and new experience of this often bombastic, in your face show. Instead of having the show flung at you from a large stage, you will get to feel like you are on Fleet Street, wandering with the rest of the street crowd as they weave this tale around you at every turn. Who knows, you may even be offered a shave by Mr. Todd himself. Although we wouldn't recommend saying yes!
Join us October 26th - November 18th for an experience you won't soon forget of the incomparable Sweeney Todd! About the Musical: When Sweeney Todd returns to London 15 years after being sent away by the nefarious Judge Turpin who removed Sweeney from London so he could have Sweeney's wife. Sweeney arrives with the still naive and kindly Anthony Hope. Sweeney goes home to Fleet Street to learn from Mrs. Lovett, the pie shop owner below his old barber shop, that his wife has died and his daughter, Johanna was then made the ward of Judge Turpin. Meanwhile, Anthony stumbles upon the beautiful Johanna, whom Judge Turpin is now trying to marry, and they both fall in love with one another! What ensues is a tale of love, loss and revenge with a little bit of macabre machinations that result in an epic tale you won't soon forget. Sweeney Todd was Originally Produced on Broadway in 1979 by Richard Barr, Charles Woodward, Robert Fryer, Mary Lea Johnson, Martin Richards in Association with Dean and Judy Manos starring the legendary Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Lovett and Len Cariou as Sweeney Todd. |
CAST:
Eric Piotrowski is a Sacramento native and discovered a love for music at an early age. A graduate of Cordova High School, he was an active musician singing in multiple choirs, performing in marching band and toured nationally as a member of the Sacramento Freelancers Drum & Bugle Corp. Ultimately, music led him to theatre where he portrayed Danny Churchill in “Girl Crazy” and Kenickie in “Grease”. Eric returned to his music roots in 2008 after a long break from performing. Singing with a local church choir led to an invitation to join the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera Chorus where he performed in Puccini’s “Tosca” and Verdi’s “Rigoletto”. Additionally, he had the opportunity to perform on stage with Andrea Bocelli as a chorus member. Since his return to performing, Eric has portrayed Wilfred Shadbolt in Gilbert & Sullivan’s “Yeomen of the Guard” with Light Opera of Sacramento, and one of the key gargoyles in Disney’s “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” with Woodland Opera House. Eric has also performed with Placer Repertory Theatre, the Roseville Theatre Arts Academy (RTAA), Errant Phoenix Productions and is a regular performer in Green Valley Theatre Company’s “Vertefée Cabaret” series. This will be Eric’s first performance with EMH Productions and The Artist's Collective!
Is thrilled to be performing in Sweeney Todd for a second time as he makes his EMH debut. He has performed in many shows in the Sacramento area for the last 17 years. His most noteworthy shows include Les Miserables and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street where he received two Elly Award nominations. In his spare time, he is Tenor with the Pops Choral and Orchestra and a competitive swordsman. Seth would like to thank his wife Shannon for always supporting his love of the arts and passion for theatre.
I am so excited to be apart of this Sweeney Todd cast! I've always loved this musical since I first watched the movie. Since then I've seen the movie and recordings of the play more times than I can count! Tobias has always been one of my favourite characters as he does sing my favourite song "Pirelli's Miracle Elixir". My favourite roles I've had are, Faline in Trigger and Oz in Wizard of Oz. I am very excited to be apart of this cast for my first musical and I can't wait to contribute all I can:D
This El Dorado County native is excited to be in her first production with the Ooley Theatre. Dani grew up acting and signing in plays through her high school and community theatres. Dani has been working in the mental health field for the past several years and is absolutely excited to get back on stage. She is very grateful for her friends, family, partner, and coworkers supporting her to pursue performing again.
Caylin Bach is thrilled to be apart of Sweeney Todd! When she is not working or acting in shows she enjoys singing, digital art, hanging out with friends and an unhealthy amount of bad television and movies. She was recently seen in the Sacramento Shakespeare Festival’s production of Macbeth as well as Sacramento City Theatre’s Beyond Persuasion. Caylin is so thankful to have the opportunity to work with a wonderful cast/crew. She would also like to thank her family, friends, and every audience member for supporting the show.

PRODUCER And ALL THE OTHER THINGS :)
ELISE HODGE - EMH Productions and The Artist's Collective

Well, I did it. My first musical. Don't know if this is really for me, after losing 5 music directors to health or death in the family, cast members loosing loved ones, and then watching my dad fall ill while helping set build.... Just another show. That's all folks. Just another show... The audience, you, never know all it takes to put on a show. It's not just rehearsals and saying things or singing, in this case. All the parts of our daily lives are heavily involved on some level. I believe that community theatre is exactly that: Community. No matter the talent level or ability. The love of doing something like acting, directing, producing, writing, etc. belongs to anyone willing to put in the effort.
I suppose that is just the thing right there. I put together a cast I thought might do well, and was thrilled to learn how many of them are fulfilling a dream by doing this. That in an of itself makes all the things that were complicated worth it. Which begs the question: Why this play? Answer: I just like it for some weird reason. And people want to be in it and people want to see it!
Recently someone told me that Sacramento is known for having good musical theater. I had no idea honestly. I don't like to set a standard to attain just to be better than the "other guy". I want those who work to be given the chance to learn, grow and move forward to something better. I am proud of so many in this cast for their progression. It has been wonderful to watch develop.
We hope you find enjoyment in this production, as a lot of blood, sweat and tears have been dumped on it already. Get ready for a unique experience!
And if you sit on the front row, be super ready for anything!
Shout outs to specific people:
Nate Mercier for all his hard work on this show, always going above and beyond to make things work
Darryl for working all the costumes!
Seth for stepping to do our fight choreo
Luna for helping out Darryl
John Z. for making the chair happen!
And the entire cast and crew for being part of my first musical! Cheers to you all!
